Bike To Work Day 2013: A Recap From Bowie

Bike to Work Day was a complete sucess this year setting new records with over 14,500 people participating in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area. Attendance at the free event, coordinated by Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) grew by 15 percent this year and included cyclists from the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia promoting bicycling as a green commute option.

We had a chance to come and visit the Bowie Town Center Location. Around 50 people had registered for this pit top with half coming before 7:30am. People couldn't help but comment on what a beautiful day it was compared to past years and enjoyed the great SWAG given out by the City of Bowie in partner with RideSmart and Commuter Connections. Local businesses donated food and coffee for the pitstop which many took advantage of. The big hit of the day was Ross and Donna, local area bicyclist enthusiasts,  who are regulars at this location with there Tandem Bike. They can be seen in the collage below, top left. Over all it was a great day to be out and about celebrating Bike to Work Day 2013. Looking forward at starting to plan for next year!
